There is no single NTS formula. NAT is one test that NTS-associated universities accept, and each applies its own split. COMSATS uses 10% Matric + 40% FSc + 50% NAT. FAST uses 10/40/50 for computing and 17/50/33 for engineering. NTU textile engineering uses 15/50/35. Namal uses 50% Inter + 50% test. NAT-I has 90 MCQs (English 20, Analytical 20, Quantitative 20, Subject 30), and the result is valid for one year.
Calculate your aggregate with a NAT score
Free · instant · no loginEnter your NAT score and its total exactly as printed on your NTS result card. Some universities (for example NTU) use your first-year (Part-I) marks, in which case set the Intermediate total to 550.
What NAT score score do you need?
Set your target merit and we work backwards from your Matric and FSc marks to the NAT score score you need. The grid shows your merit at every score from 50% to 100% of the paper.
NTS / NAT Merit Formula by University
| University | Matric | Intermediate | NAT / test | Details |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| COMSATS | 10% | 40% | 50% | All campuses, NTS NAT |
| FAST-NUCES computing / business | 10% | 40% | 50% | NAT-IE / NAT-ICS or FAST test or SAT |
| FAST-NUCES engineering | 17% | 50% | 33% | NAT-IE or FAST test |
| HITEC CS / SE / AI / Cyber | 17% | 50% | 33% | HITEC test or valid NAT |
| NTU textile / polymer engineering | 15% | 50% (Part-I) | 35% | NTU test, NTS, HEC-ETC, ECAT or NUST |
| NTU CS / SE / AI | 10% | 60% (Part-I) | 30% | As above |
| CECOS | 10% | 40% | 50% | CECOS test or NTS |
| FJWU | — | 70% | 30% | NAT-I or HEC test (engineering, Fall 2026) |
| Namal | — | 50% | 50% | NAT, USAT or PEC test; Inter 70%+ |
Every split comes from that university’s own admission documents, as checked for its page on this site. NAT is also accepted by universities that admit on academic marks alone or use NAT only to qualify. For those, your aggregate doesn’t include the NAT score, so check the university’s own page.
How to Calculate Your NTS Aggregate
| Component (COMSATS example) | Marks | Percentage | Weight | Points |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NAT | 72 / 100 | 72.00% | 50% | 36.00 |
| FSc | 935 / 1100 | 85.00% | 40% | 34.00 |
| Matric | 990 / 1100 | 90.00% | 10% | 9.00 |
| Aggregate | — | — | — | 79.00 |
The same marks give 81.56 under FAST engineering (17/50/33). That’s why you must pick the right university and programme.
NAT Test Pattern (NAT-I, 12 Years of Education)
| NAT type | For | English | Analytical | Quantitative | Subject (30) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| NAT-IE | Pre-Engineering | 20 | 20 | 20 | Physics 10, Chemistry 10, Maths 10 |
| NAT-IM | Pre-Medical | 20 | 20 | 20 | Physics 8, Chemistry 8, Biology 14 |
| NAT-ICS | Computer Science | 20 | 20 | 20 | Physics 10, Computer 10, Maths 10 |
| NAT-IGS | General Science | 20 | 20 | 20 | Maths 10, Statistics 10, Economics 10 |
| NAT-ICOM | Commerce | 20 | 20 | 20 | Accounting 10, Commerce 10, Economics 10 |
| NAT-IA | Arts | 20 | 20 | 20 | Islamiyat / Ethics 10, Pakistan Studies 10, GK 10 |
Every NAT-I paper has 90 questions in 120 minutes. English covers sentence completion (5), analogy (3), antonyms (4), comprehension (5) and synonyms (3). Analytical has 12 scenario-based and 8 statement-based questions. Quantitative has arithmetic (13), algebra (4) and geometry (3). Graduates (14 years of education) take NAT-II papers of 100 questions instead.
NAT Test Dates 2026 and Fee
| Test | Test date | Last date to register | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| NAT-XI | Sunday 15 November 2026 | 26 October 2026 | 23 November 2026 |
| NAT-XII | Sunday 13 December 2026 | 7 December 2026 | 21 December 2026 |
- Registration fee is Rs 1,510, or Rs 2,010 with the late fee. You can pay through 1Link 1Bill banks, EasyPaisa, JazzCash or TCS.
- The NAT result is valid for one year. Apply to each university separately with a copy of your NTS result card.
- NTS holds NAT monthly. NAT-I to NAT-X for 2026 ran from 18 January to 11 October.
Universities That Accept NTS NAT
NTS lists these associated universities and degree-awarding institutes for NAT:
- Quaid-i-Azam University; COMSATS University; FAST-NUCES (all campuses); Institute of Space Technology; IIUI (CS and Electronics Engineering departments); KICSIT; CASE Islamabad; SIMSIT Islamabad; FUUAST Islamabad (BSc Electrical Engineering)
- GCU Faisalabad; National Textile University; UMT Lahore; IB&M UET Lahore; Kinnaird College; GIFT University; University of Gujrat; Imperial College of Business Studies (engineering only); Islamia University Bahawalpur; Institute of Southern Punjab; Namal University; FJWU Rawalpindi
- CECOS University; IMSciences Peshawar; UET Peshawar (non-engineering programmes); University of Peshawar; Gomal University; KUST Kohat; UST Bannu; University of Swat
- KITE Karachi; University of AJK (Faculty of Agriculture, Rawalakot); PAEC talent scholarship
Being on this list doesn’t mean NAT is weighted in merit. For example, University of Peshawar and GCUF currently admit BS students on academic marks alone.
Common NTS Aggregate Mistakes
- Using one formula for every university. COMSATS (10/40/50) and FAST engineering (17/50/33) give different results for the same marks.
- Taking the wrong NAT type. Pick the paper that matches your Intermediate group (IE, IM, ICS, IGS, ICOM or IA).
- Using an expired result. A NAT result is valid for one year only.
- Expecting job-test merit here. NTS recruitment tests (SST, CT and others) use the hiring department’s own formula. This calculator is for university admission.
Frequently asked questions
What is the NTS merit calculation formula?
There isn’t one NTS formula. Each university applies its own weightage to your NAT score, for example COMSATS 10% Matric + 40% FSc + 50% NAT, or FAST engineering 17% + 50% + 33%.
How many questions are in the NAT test?
NAT-I (after 12 years of education) has 90 questions in 120 minutes: English 20, Analytical 20, Quantitative 20 and Subject 30.
How long is the NTS NAT result valid?
One year, according to NTS.
When is the next NAT test?
NAT-XI is on Sunday 15 November 2026 (register by 26 October), and NAT-XII on Sunday 13 December 2026 (register by 7 December).
Which NAT should I take for BS Computer Science?
NAT-ICS if you studied ICS, or NAT-IE if you studied Pre-Engineering. Check your university’s notice for which types it accepts.
Does this calculator work for NTS job tests?
No. It is built for university admission. NTS job-test merit is set by the hiring department.
