How to Improve Your NTU Merit

  • Your Part-I result matters most. It carries 50–100% of your merit.
  • Prepare English and reasoning, not just subjects. 66 of the 100 test questions are English, analytical and quantitative.
  • Answer every question. There is no negative marking.
  • For Textile Engineering, check your regional quota. You compete only within your province or category.
  • Consider self-finance and evening seats in computer science if regular seats close high.

Common NTU Merit Calculation Mistakes to Avoid

  • Using full FSc marks out of 1100. NTU uses Part-I marks.
  • Using one formula for every programme. Engineering, CS, technology, design and business all differ.
  • Adding a test to business, English or Chemistry. These use Part-I only.
  • Adding drawing test marks to design merit. The drawing test is pass/fail only.
  • Treating the estimate as final. Only NTU’s merit lists are official.
