About University of Gilgit-Baltistan
The University of Gilgit-Baltistan (UGB) is a public university established in 2015 by the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan, headquartered in Gilgit city. It was created to expand access to higher education across the remote and mountainous GB region, which has historically had limited access to universities.

Absolute vs Relative Grading at UGB
UGB uses absolute grading — your grade is determined by your own marks against fixed percentage thresholds, not relative to how your classmates perform.
| Grading Method | How It Works | Used at UGB |
|---|---|---|
| Absolute Grading | Fixed cutoffs: 85%+ = A (4.00), 80–84% = A- (3.67), etc. | Standard across all programmes |
| Relative / Curve Grading | Top scorers always get A; grades scaled to class distribution | Not used |
Absolute grading means this calculator gives a reliable estimate of your GPA based entirely on your own exam and assignment performance.
