About KKKUK (Khushal Khan Khattak University Karak)
Khushal Khan Khattak University Karak (KKKUK) is a public sector university established by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Karak District, southern KPK. The university is named after Khushal Khan Khattak (1613–1689), the legendary Pashtun warrior, chieftain of the Khattak tribe, and one of the greatest poets of the Pashto language. KKKUK Campus & Programmes
Main Campus — Karak
KKKUK's campus is located in Karak, the headquarters of Karak District in southern KPK. Karak District is known for its oil and gas resources and is one of the more economically significant districts in KPK. The university draws students primarily from Karak, Kohat, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, and Hangu districts, providing higher education access to communities in this part of KPK that previously had to travel to Peshawar or other cities for university education.
Academic Departments
KKKUK's academic departments span Natural Sciences (Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology), Social Sciences (Economics, Political Science, Sociology), Computer Science & IT (BS CS, BS IT), Management Sciences (BBA, MBA), and Languages & Humanities (English, Pashto, Urdu, Islamic Studies, Pakistan Studies). The university offers both undergraduate BS and postgraduate MS/MPhil programmes across these departments.
Absolute vs Relative Grading at KKKUK
KKKUK follows absolute grading across all its programmes, as mandated by HEC Pakistan. Each grade corresponds to a fixed percentage threshold — scoring 85% or above always earns an A (4.00 grade points), regardless of how other students perform. There is no bell-curve adjustment or result normalisation.
Absolute grading ensures that KKKUK graduates' GPAs are directly comparable with those from other HEC-chartered universities across Pakistan, which is important for KPSC/FPSC government service applications and postgraduate admissions at other institutions.
