About Gandhara University

Gandhara University is a private university established in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Founded in 1997, it is among the oldest private universities in KPK and is fully recognised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). The university takes its name from the ancient Gandhara civilisation — one of the world's earliest and most significant cultural centres, which flourished in the Peshawar Valley from around 1500 BCE to 1000 CE and gave rise to the famous Gandharan Buddhist art tradition, blending Greek and South Asian aesthetics.

Gandhara University is particularly known for its medical and health sciences programmes. The university houses Gandhara Medical College and Gandhara College of Dentistry, offering MBBS and BDS programmes regulated by the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC). Alongside these professional programmes, the university also offers BS Allied Health Sciences, BS Pharmacy, BS Nursing, and non-health disciplines including Computer Science and Business Administration.
