KEMU Merit Formula 2026: MBBS vs DPT and Allied Health

MBBS and BDS: UHS Lahore runs admissions for all public medical and dental colleges in Punjab, including KEMU, using the PMDC formula. You apply to UHS, not directly to KEMU, and KEMU is one of your college preferences.

DPT and Allied Health: KEMU admits these students itself and gives FSc and MDCAT equal weight (45% each). This formula is printed on KEMU’s official merit lists.

How to Calculate Your KEMU Aggregate: Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Convert each result to a percentage. Matric and FSc obtained ÷ total × 100; MDCAT score ÷ 180 × 100.
  2. Multiply by the weightage for your programme.
  3. Add the three results. The total is your aggregate out of 100.

Worked example: MBBS

A student scores 1050/1100 in Matric, 1040/1100 in FSc and 170/180 in MDCAT.

ComponentMarksPercentageWeightagePoints
MDCAT170 / 18094.44%50%47.22
FSc1040 / 110094.55%40%37.82
Matric1050 / 110095.45%10%9.55
Total aggregate——100%94.59%

Enter the same numbers in the calculator above and you will get 94.59%. That falls just short of KEMU’s 2025-26 MBBS closing merit of 94.87%.

Worked example: DPT / Allied Health

The same marks under KEMU’s 10/45/45 formula: 95.45% × 0.10 + 94.55% × 0.45 + 94.44% × 0.45 = 9.55 + 42.55 + 42.50 = 94.59%. That is above the 2026 DPT closing merit of 92.53.

KEMU Merit Impact: How Much Is Each Mark Worth?

+10 marks in Matric (out of 1100)+0.091 points+0.091 points

KEMU’s MBBS closing merit is so high that one MDCAT question (0.28 points) can decide whether you get in. For DPT and Allied Health, FSc counts slightly more, so a strong FSc result helps more there.

How to Improve Your Chances at KEMU

  • For MBBS, aim for about 172 or more in MDCAT. With Matric and FSc around 95%, you need at least that to pass the 94.87% closing merit.
  • Put KEMU first in your UHS preferences if it is your top choice, and add backup colleges such as AIMC and SIMS, which closed a little lower.
  • Consider DPT and Allied Health. They close lower than MBBS and use the same MDCAT result.
  • Check eligibility early. DPT and Allied Health need 60% in MDCAT and a Punjab domicile.
  • Watch KEMU’s admission notices in October/November for DPT and Allied Health.

Common KEMU Aggregate Calculation Mistakes to Avoid

  • Dividing MDCAT by 200 or 210. MDCAT is out of 180.
  • Using 10/40/50 for DPT or Allied Health. KEMU uses 10/45/45 for those programmes.
  • Applying for MBBS at KEMU directly. MBBS and BDS admissions go through UHS.
  • Comparing with reserved-seat merit. Open-merit closing is higher than the AJK, Balochistan or GB closing.
  • Treating the estimate as final. Only UHS and KEMU merit lists are official.

How this page was checked. The MBBS route and the 10/45/45 DPT, Allied Health and Allied Vision Sciences formulas come from KEMU’s own Undergraduate Admissions page, and the 10/45/45 formula is also printed on KEMU’s final merit PDFs for session 2026. The DPT and Allied Health closing merits come from those KEMU PDFs. The MBBS closing merit comes from UHS’s 13th and final open-merit selection list for 2025-26, which we read and summarised by college. The other calculator pages checked agreed on 10/40/50 for MBBS, but one divided MDCAT by 200 instead of 180, and none covered KEMU’s separate formula for DPT and Allied Health.
