UVAS’s own official merit formula and its own live calculator both confirm the DVM/BS aggregate formula is 30% Matric + 70% Intermediate Part-I, full stop — no entry test counts toward merit for any programme, including DVM. A Hafiz-e-Quran certificate adds 20 bonus marks, subject to a verification test.
Calculate your UVAS merit
Free · instant · no loginUVAS’s formula uses only Matric and Intermediate Part-I — there is no test field because UVAS does not count any test score toward merit.
What Entry Test score do you need?
Set your target merit and we work backwards from your Matric and FSc marks to the Entry Test score you need. The grid shows your merit at every score from 50% to 100% of the paper.
UVAS Merit Formula 2027: 30% Matric + 70% Intermediate, No Entry Test
UVAS’s own merit-formula page states the calculation directly, with an official worked example:
| Component | Weightage |
|---|---|
| Matriculation / SSC | 30% |
| Intermediate Part-I / Equivalent | 70% |
| Entry / Admission Test | Not counted |
UVAS’s own live “Calculate Your Percentage” tool independently confirms this: its form asks only for Matric and Intermediate Part-I marks, with no test field anywhere in the tool.
This applies to every UVAS undergraduate programme, including DVM, Pharm-D and every BS programme — UVAS’s own eligibility page states, for each programme individually, that “the final merit will be based on marks obtained in Matric... and F.Sc...”, with no test mentioned. The only test on UVAS’s eligibility page is a Hafiz-e-Quran verification test, which only affects the 20-mark bonus, not the base 30:70 formula.
UVAS (Lahore) is a separate university from CUVAS (Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Bahawalpur), which has its own, different admission process.
How to Calculate Your UVAS Aggregate: Step-by-Step Guide
- Convert Matric and Inter Part-I to percentages. Divide obtained marks by total marks and multiply by 100.
- Multiply by UVAS’s weightage. Matric × 0.30, Intermediate Part-I × 0.70.
- Add the two numbers. The total is your UVAS aggregate out of 100 — no test score is added.
Worked example (UVAS’s own official example)
This is the exact example published on UVAS’s own merit-formula page: a student scores 900/1100 in Matric and 540/555 in Intermediate Part-I.
| Component | Marks | Percentage | Weightage | Points |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Intermediate Part-I | 540 / 555 | 97.30% | 70% | 68.1081 |
| Matric | 900 / 1100 | 81.82% | 30% | 24.5454 |
| Total merit | — | — | 100% | 92.6535% |
Try these same numbers in the calculator above and you will get the same result.
UVAS Hafiz-e-Quran Bonus: +20 Marks
UVAS awards 20 bonus marks to certified Hafiz-e-Quran candidates, across every undergraduate programme, subject to clearing a Hafiz-e-Quran verification test. You must bring your original documents on the day of the test.
The eligibility page states the bonus is awarded on top of the base formula, without spelling out the exact insertion point (before or after the 30:70 weighting). Using the common convention of adding it to the Matric component before weighting, 900/1100 Matric with the Hafiz-e-Quran bonus becomes effectively 920/1100, raising the example above from 92.6535% to roughly 93.20%. Confirm the exact mechanics with UVAS’s admissions office if this bonus applies to you and the precise figure matters to your decision.
UVAS Eligibility Criteria 2027 (Minimum Marks by Programme)
These minimums are confirmed directly from UVAS’s own eligibility page, and differ by programme:
| Programme | Minimum FSc % |
|---|---|
| DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine), Pharm-D | 60% (Pre-Medical) |
| BS Human Nutrition & Dietetics | 50% (Pre-Medical) |
| BS Food Science & Technology, BS Poultry Science, BS Environmental Sciences | 50% (Pre-Medical / Pre-Engineering) |
| BS Dairy Technology | 50% (Pre-Medical / Pre-Engineering, or DAE in Food/Chemical Technology) |
| BS Computer Science | 50% (Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical or ICS) |
| BS Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Applied Microbiology, Medical Lab Technology, Biology, Zoology | 45% (Pre-Medical) |
| BBA | 45% (Pre-Medical / Pre-Engineering / FA / ICS / I.Com) |
Additional confirmed rules: candidates must not be over 25 years of age on the last date of application. Second-year (Part-II) result-awaiting candidates may apply if they have passed all Part-I subjects; candidates with a complete result are evaluated on that result. Admission is granted according to the preferences/priorities the candidate lists themselves.
UVAS Merit Impact: How Much Is Each Mark Worth?
Since Intermediate carries more than double Matric’s weight, your Inter result matters far more than your Matric result.
| Improvement | Change in merit |
|---|---|
| +10 marks in Intermediate Part-I (out of 555) | +1.261 points |
| +10 marks in Matric (out of 1100) | +0.273 points |
An Intermediate Part-I mark is worth more than four times a Matric mark under this formula. A strong Intermediate Part-I result is the single biggest lever available to a UVAS applicant.
UVAS Campuses This Formula Covers
UVAS runs undergraduate admission across four campuses, all under the same 30:70 formula:
- Ravi Campus, Lahore (main campus)
- Jhang Campus
- Narowal Campus
- Layyah Campus
Programme availability differs by campus. Confirm which campus offers your chosen programme before you apply.
UVAS Closing Merit: What Aggregate Do You Need?
There is no single number: closing merit depends on the programme, the campus and that year’s applicant pool. DVM is consistently UVAS’s most competitive programme, so its closing merit tends to run higher than other BS programmes.
Use the previous cycle’s official closing merit for your programme and campus as your target, then use the required-score tool above to see the Intermediate percentage you’d need at a given Matric score to reach it.
How to Improve Your UVAS Merit Score
- Focus on Intermediate Part-I above everything else. At 70% weightage, it is worth more than double your Matric result, mark for mark.
- Do not expect an entry test to change your merit. UVAS’s formula does not count any test score, for any programme, including DVM.
- Claim your Hafiz-e-Quran bonus if eligible. It is a straightforward 20 marks, subject to clearing the verification test with original documents.
- Check your programme’s specific eligibility minimum. They range from 45% to 60% FSc depending on the programme.
- Apply on time. The maximum age limit (25 years on the application deadline) is strictly enforced.
- Apply broadly. Consider more than one university so a single programme’s closing merit does not decide your whole year.
Common UVAS Aggregate Calculation Mistakes to Avoid
- Adding an entry test score to the aggregate. UVAS explicitly does not count any test score toward merit for any programme.
- Confusing UVAS (Lahore) with CUVAS (Cholistan University, Bahawalpur). They are different universities with different admission processes.
- Using Intermediate Part-II or full FSc marks instead of Part-I. UVAS’s formula specifically uses Intermediate Part-I marks.
- Assuming the same eligibility minimum applies to every programme. It ranges from 45% to 60% FSc depending on the programme.
- Treating the estimate as final. Only UVAS’s own merit list, published on its admissions portal, is official.
Frequently asked questions
What is the UVAS merit formula?
UVAS’s own official calculator and merit-formula page confirm 30% Matric + 70% Intermediate Part-I, with no entry test counted, for every undergraduate programme including DVM.
Is there an entry test for UVAS DVM admission?
No, not in the merit formula. UVAS’s own eligibility page states the final merit for DVM is based only on Matric and F.Sc. marks. CUVAS, a different university in Bahawalpur, has its own separate admission process.
How is the UVAS aggregate calculated?
Convert Matric and Intermediate Part-I to percentages, multiply by 0.30 and 0.70, and add. UVAS’s own published example: Matric 900/1100 and Intermediate Part-I 540/555 give 92.6535%.
What is the UVAS Hafiz-e-Quran bonus?
20 bonus marks, awarded across every UVAS undergraduate programme, subject to clearing a Hafiz-e-Quran verification test with original documents on the test day.
What is the minimum eligibility for UVAS DVM?
At least 60% marks in F.Sc. (Pre-Medical) or an equivalent examination, excluding the Hafiz-e-Quran bonus. This is the highest eligibility minimum among UVAS’s programmes.
What is the minimum eligibility for other UVAS BS programmes?
It varies: 50% for BS Human Nutrition & Dietetics, Food Science, Poultry Science, Environmental Sciences, Dairy Technology and Computer Science; 45% for Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Applied Microbiology, Medical Lab Technology, Biology, Zoology and BBA.
Is there an age limit for UVAS admission?
Yes. Candidates must not be over 25 years of age on the last date of application submission.
Can I apply if my Intermediate Part-II result is not out yet?
Yes. Second-year (Part-II) result-awaiting candidates may apply if they have passed all Part-I subjects. Candidates with a complete result are evaluated on that full result instead.
Why does the calculator on this page not show a test field?
Because UVAS’s own formula does not include a test score at all, for any programme. Its own official calculator tool also has no test input field.
What Intermediate percentage do I need to reach a target merit?
Subtract your Matric points (Matric % × 0.30) from your target and divide by 0.70. For example, with Matric 900/1100 you already have 24.55 points, so a target of 85% needs an Intermediate Part-I percentage of at least 86.36%. Use the required-score tool on this page to do it for your own marks.
Which UVAS campuses does this formula apply to?
All four: Ravi Campus (Lahore, the main campus), Jhang, Narowal and Layyah. Programme availability differs by campus.
What merit do I need to get into UVAS DVM?
It depends on the campus and applicant pool that year, so there is no fixed number. Use the previous cycle’s official closing merit for DVM as a target.
Is this the official UVAS merit?
No. This is an independent estimator built directly from UVAS’s own published formula and its own calculator. Your official merit position is published by UVAS on its own admissions portal.
Why is my merit different from the one UVAS published?
Common reasons are using Intermediate Part-II instead of Part-I marks, mistakenly adding a test score, forgetting the Hafiz-e-Quran bonus if eligible, or rounding. Confirm the exact figures with UVAS’s admissions office.
