NUTECH’s own aggregate calculator and 2026 prospectus set merit at 10% SSC + 20% HSSC + 70% NUTECH Entry Test (NUET). The same formula applies to every undergraduate programme. If your HSSC Part-II result is awaited, your Part-I marks are used. NUTECH runs four NUET series, and your highest score counts.

Enter your NUET result as a percentage (out of 100), as NUTECH’s own calculator does. If you took more than one NUET series, only your highest score counts.
What NUET score do you need?
Set your target merit and we work backwards from your Matric and FSc marks to the NUET score you need. The grid shows your merit at every score from 50% to 100% of the paper.
NUTECH Merit Formula 2026: 10% SSC + 20% HSSC + 70% NUET
NUTECH’s aggregate calculator, admissions page and 2026 prospectus all give the same formula for every undergraduate programme:
| Component | Weightage |
|---|---|
| NUTECH Entry Test (NUET), or SAT Subject for international / expatriate students | 70% |
| HSSC / A-Level / DAE (complete), or HSSC Part-I / A1 if the final result is awaited | 20% |
| SSC / O-Level / equivalent | 10% |
The entry test carries 70%, so your NUET result matters far more than your board marks. The formula is the same for engineering, computing and engineering technology; only the eligibility minimums differ.
Improvement candidates are not treated as result-awaited: NUTECH uses the most recently notified result. DAE students cannot apply on a hope or provisional certificate.
How to Calculate Your NUTECH Aggregate: Step-by-Step Guide
- Convert SSC and HSSC to percentages. Obtained ÷ total × 100.
- Take your best NUET percentage.
- Multiply and add. SSC × 0.10 + HSSC × 0.20 + NUET × 0.70.
Worked example: HSSC Part-I (result awaited)
A student scores 950/1100 in SSC, 480/550 in HSSC Part-I and 70% in the NUET.
| Component | Marks | Percentage | Weightage | Points |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NUET | — | 70.00% | 70% | 49.00 |
| HSSC Part-I | 480 / 550 | 87.27% | 20% | 17.45 |
| SSC | 950 / 1100 | 86.36% | 10% | 8.64 |
| Total aggregate | — | — | 100% | 75.09% |
Enter the same numbers in the calculator above and you will get 75.09%.
NUTECH Entry Test (NUET): Series, Subjects and Pattern
NUET is compulsory for all Pakistani applicants. NUTECH holds four NUET series each admission cycle. They are computer-based at NUTECH Islamabad, and the last series is also paper-based at Peshawar, Lahore, Multan, Karachi, Gilgit-Baltistan and Quetta. Only your highest score counts.
| Subject | Share of the paper |
|---|---|
| Mathematics | 40% |
| Physics | 30% |
| Chemistry / Computer Science | 20% |
| English / reasoning | 10% |
You are tested on the subjects of the qualification that makes you eligible:
| Your group | NUET subjects |
|---|---|
| FSc Pre-Engineering | Maths, Physics, Chemistry, English |
| FSc Pre-Medical | Physics, Chemistry, General Arithmetic, English |
| ICS / HSSC with Maths (General) | Maths, Physics, Computer, English |
| DAE (any discipline) | Mainly from the DAE syllabus |
International and expatriate students can submit a SAT Subject (Math Level II) score instead of taking NUET.
NUTECH Eligibility Criteria 2026
| Programme | SSC | HSSC | Qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| BS Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering | 60% | 60% | FSc Pre-Engineering; Pre-Medical with additional or condensed Maths; ICS with Maths, Physics & Computer Science; relevant DAE |
| BS Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI, Cyber Security, IT | 60% | 50% | FSc Pre-Engineering / Pre-Medical / ICS / HSSC with Maths; DAE (all disciplines) |
| Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Civil) | 50% | 50% | FSc Pre-Engineering / Pre-Medical / ICS / DAE (Civil) |
You are ineligible if you failed or were absent in any subject of HSSC Part-I or II (or A1/A2). O/A-Level applicants need IBCC equivalence certificates. Each programme starts with up to 50 students.
NUTECH Admission Scholarships
- Board first position in HSSC with at least 75% in NUET: 100% tuition waiver in the first semester.
- Top three NUET scorers of the batch: 1st gets 100%, 2nd gets 75% and 3rd gets 50% first-semester tuition waiver. 2nd and 3rd must be at the 90th percentile or above.
These incentives cover the first semester only. From the second semester, students can apply under NUTECH’s talent, need-based and merit scholarships.
NUTECH Merit Impact: How Much Is Each Mark Worth?
| Improvement | Change in aggregate |
|---|---|
| +1% in NUET | +0.70 points |
| +10 marks in HSSC Part-I (out of 550) | +0.36 points |
| +10 marks in SSC (out of 1100) | +0.09 points |
A single NUET percentage point is worth nearly twice as much as ten extra HSSC Part-I marks. With four series and only the best counting, retaking NUET is the most effective way to raise your merit.
NUTECH Closing Merit: What Aggregate Do You Need?
NUTECH releases its first merit list in the first or second week of August and its final list in the fourth week of August, and classes start in September. Programmes are offered by merit and in the order of your preferences. You can change your preference once, but not after the third or final list.
NUTECH does not publish a fixed cut-off in advance. Use the required-score tool above to see the NUET score you need for your target.
How to Improve Your NUTECH Merit
- Take more than one NUET series. Only your best score counts.
- Focus on Maths and Physics. They make up 70% of the paper.
- Prepare for your own group’s paper. Pre-Medical students get General Arithmetic instead of Maths.
- Aim high for a scholarship. A top-three NUET score or a board position can waive first-semester tuition.
- Check the 60% SSC rule. Below 60% in SSC you can only apply to BET (Civil).
Common NUTECH Merit Calculation Mistakes to Avoid
- Using 10/40/50. NUTECH’s formula is 10/20/70.
- Averaging your NUET series. Only your highest score counts.
- Using full HSSC totals with Part-I marks. Match the total to the marks you enter.
- Applying as result-awaited after an improvement exam. NUTECH uses your latest notified result instead.
- Treating the estimate as final. Only NUTECH’s merit lists are official.
Frequently asked questions
What is the NUTECH merit formula?
10% SSC + 20% HSSC + 70% NUTECH Entry Test (NUET), for all undergraduate programmes. International and expatriate students can use a SAT Subject score instead of NUET.
How is the NUTECH aggregate calculated?
SSC % × 0.10 + HSSC % × 0.20 + NUET % × 0.70. For example, 950/1100 in SSC, 480/550 in HSSC Part-I and 70% in NUET give 75.09%.
How many times can I take NUET?
NUTECH holds four NUET series each cycle, and your highest score is used for merit.
What subjects are in NUET?
Maths 40%, Physics 30%, Chemistry or Computer Science 20% and English/reasoning 10%. Pre-Medical students get General Arithmetic in place of Maths.
Can I apply to NUTECH with HSSC Part-I marks?
Yes. If your final result is awaited, NUTECH uses your HSSC Part-I (or A1) marks for the 20% HSSC part.
What is the minimum percentage for NUTECH?
60% in SSC for all BS programmes. Engineering also needs 60% in HSSC, while computing programmes need 50%. BET (Civil) needs 50% in both.
Can Pre-Medical students apply to NUTECH?
Yes. Pre-Medical students can apply to computing programmes and BET (Civil). For engineering they need additional or condensed Mathematics.
Is this the official NUTECH aggregate?
No. This is an independent estimator using NUTECH’s own published formula. NUTECH publishes the official merit lists.
