ITU Merit & Aggregate Calculator

Use this free ITU (Information Technology University, Lahore) merit and aggregate calculator to work out your admission aggregate. Enter your Matric, Intermediate and ITU Admission Test marks, then see the score you need for your target merit.

Quick answer

ITU’s own official admissions page confirms the formula for BS Computer Science and BS Artificial Intelligence (with an HSSC result) is 15% Matric + 35% Intermediate + 50% Admission Test. Other ITU programmes use a different combined Academic Record / Test split — see the full breakdown below. This is one of the few universities where ITU itself publishes the exact percentage split, not just a combined estimate.

Set your target merit and we work backwards from your Matric and FSc marks to the ITU Admission Test score you need. The grid shows your merit at every score from 50% to 100% of the paper.

ITU Merit Formula 2027: BS CS & AI (15-35-50) and Other Programmes

ITU publishes its exact merit formula, broken down by programme, directly on its own admissions page. For BS Computer Science and BS Artificial Intelligence, applicants with an HSSC result use:

ComponentWeightage
Matric / O-Level15%
Intermediate / A-Level35%
ITU Admission Test / SAT-I / USAT50%

Applicants who only have an O-Level result, with their Intermediate/A-Level result still awaited, use a two-part version instead: Academic Record 35% + Admission Test 65%.

Other ITU programmes publish a combined Academic Record percentage rather than a separate Matric/Inter split:

Programme groupAcademic RecordAdmission Test
BS Electrical / Software / Computer Engineering50%50%
BS Management & Technology, BS Financial Technology40%60%
BS Economics with Data Science50%50% (min. test score 40%)

ITU does not state how that combined Academic Record percentage splits between Matric and Inter for these three groups, so this calculator uses a custom-weights mode for them: enter your own Matric/Inter split, adding up to the published Academic Record percentage plus the test weight.

How to Calculate Your ITU Aggregate: Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Convert Matric and Inter to percentages. Divide obtained marks by total marks and multiply by 100. Your Admission Test score is already a 0-100 value.
  2. Multiply by ITU’s weightage for your programme. For BS CS/AI with an HSSC result: Matric × 0.15, Inter × 0.35, Test × 0.50.
  3. Add the three numbers. The total is your ITU merit out of 100.

Worked example: BS CS / BS AI (HSSC result)

A student scores 950/1100 in Matric, 980/1100 in Intermediate and 70/100 in the ITU Admission Test.

ComponentMarksPercentageWeightagePoints
Intermediate980 / 110089.09%35%31.18
Admission Test70 / 10070.00%50%35.00
Matric950 / 110086.36%15%12.95
Total merit——100%79.14%

Try these same numbers in the calculator above and you will get 79.14%.

ITU Admission Test (ITU-AT): Format and Accepted Alternatives

ITU’s own admissions page confirms the ITU Admission Test is held on-campus, and that applicants may be exempted from it if they submit an accepted alternative score. ITU does not publish the test’s total raw marks, so treat your test result as a 0-100 score, which is how ITU itself states its eligibility thresholds.

  • ITU Admission Test — ITU’s own on-campus test. Minimum eligibility score is 50% for most programmes, but 40% for BS Economics with Data Science.
  • SAT-I — accepted across all ITU BS programmes as an exemption, with a minimum of 550 in each of Math and EBRW (Verbal).
  • USAT (USAT-CS, USAT-E, USAT-GS) — accepted for BS CS, BS AI, Engineering and Economics, minimum score 50%.
  • NTS (NAT-IE, NAT-ICS and other NTS tests) — accepted for Engineering, Management/FinTech and Economics, minimum score 50%. NTS is not listed as an accepted exemption for BS CS or BS AI on ITU’s own page.
  • ECAT 2024 — accepted specifically for the Engineering programmes (BS EE, BS SE, BS CE).

The test is reported as 90 minutes, MCQ-based, covering Quantitative, Verbal and Analytical Reasoning sections with no negative marking. This detail is not confirmed on ITU’s own site, so treat it as reported, not officially confirmed.

ITU Merit Impact: How Much Is Each Mark Worth? (BS CS / BS AI)

For BS CS and BS AI applicants with an HSSC result, the Admission Test carries the largest weight per raw point, since it is already scored on a 0-100 scale. Here is what an improvement is worth in merit points.

ImprovementChange in merit
+1 point in the Admission Test (out of 100)+0.50 points
+10 marks in Intermediate (out of 1100)+0.318 points
+10 marks in Matric (out of 1100)+0.136 points

Because the Admission Test is worth 50% of the total and is already a percentage, each point you gain there is worth far more than a raw mark in Matric or Inter. Preparing well for the test is the single highest-leverage thing a BS CS/AI applicant can do.

ITU Eligibility Criteria 2027 (Minimum Marks & Subjects)

These minimums are confirmed directly from ITU’s own BS Computer Science programme page, and apply similarly across ITU’s other BS programmes:

RequirementMinimum
Matric / O-Level50% marks or above
Intermediate / A-Level50% marks or above
ITU Admission Test50% (40% for BS Economics with Data Science)

Accepted Intermediate qualifications for BS CS/AI include F.Sc (Pre-Engineering), F.Sc (Pre-Medical), FA (Mathematics, Statistics or Economics), ICS, and A-Levels with either Physics/Chemistry/Biology or Mathematics plus two other subjects.

Pre-Medical entrants without a Mathematics background must clear an extra 6 credit hours of foundation Mathematics courses in their first year, ITU’s programme page states, or their admission can be revoked.

ITU Closing Merit: What Aggregate Do You Need?

There is no single number: closing merit depends on the programme and that year’s applicant pool. BS Computer Science and BS Artificial Intelligence are consistently ITU’s most competitive programmes, so their closing merit tends to run higher than Engineering, Management or Economics.

Use the previous cycle’s official closing merit for your programme as your target, then use the required-score tool above to see the Admission Test score you need to reach it.

How to Improve Your ITU Merit Score

  • Check which programme group you fall into first. BS CS/AI, Engineering, Management/FinTech and Economics all use different Academic Record vs Test weightage.
  • Prioritise the Admission Test for BS CS/AI. At 50% weightage on a direct 0-100 scale, it moves your merit further than any single raw mark in Matric or Inter.
  • Check your exemption options. A strong SAT-I (550+ per section) or USAT/NTS score (per your programme) can exempt you from sitting the ITU Admission Test at all.
  • Pre-Medical applicants without Mathematics: budget time for the extra foundation Math courses ITU requires in first year.
  • Confirm the internal split for Engineering, Management/FinTech and Economics with ITU directly, since ITU has not published how the combined Academic Record percentage divides between Matric and Inter for these groups.
  • Apply broadly. Consider more than one university so a single test day does not decide your whole year.

Common ITU Aggregate Calculation Mistakes to Avoid

  • Using the BS CS/AI 15-35-50 split for Engineering, Management/FinTech or Economics. Those programmes use a different combined Academic Record / Test ratio.
  • Using a formula that gives Matric zero weight. ITU’s own official page confirms Matric carries 15% for BS CS/AI.
  • Entering the Admission Test score out of a raw mark total. ITU does not publish a total; treat your score as already on a 0-100 scale.
  • Forgetting the O-Level-only route. If your Intermediate/A-Level result has not been announced yet, ITU uses a different 35/65 formula, not the standard 15-35-50.
  • Treating the estimate as final. Only ITU’s own merit list, published on its admissions portal, is official.

Frequently asked questions

What is the ITU merit formula?

For BS Computer Science and BS Artificial Intelligence with an HSSC result, ITU’s own page confirms 15% Matric, 35% Intermediate and 50% Admission Test. Other programmes use a different combined Academic Record and Test split: Engineering is 50/50, Management & Technology and Financial Technology are 40/60, and Economics with Data Science is 50/50.

Is the ITU merit formula officially published?

Yes, for the combined Academic Record and Test weightage by programme. ITU also breaks Academic Record down into Matric (15%) and Inter (35%) specifically for BS CS and BS AI. For Engineering, Management/FinTech and Economics, only the combined Academic Record percentage is published, not the internal Matric/Inter split.

How is the ITU aggregate calculated?

For BS CS/AI: convert Matric and Intermediate to percentages, multiply by 0.15 and 0.35, add your Admission Test score (already 0-100) multiplied by 0.50. For example, Matric 950/1100, Intermediate 980/1100 and Admission Test 70/100 give 79.14%.

Why does this calculator ask for a custom weight split on some programmes?

ITU has only published the internal Matric/Inter breakdown for BS CS and BS AI. For Engineering, Management & Technology, Financial Technology and Economics, ITU states only a combined Academic Record percentage, so this calculator lets you enter your own split rather than inventing one ITU has not confirmed.

What entry test does ITU accept?

ITU’s own Admission Test (ITU-AT), or an exemption via SAT-I (550+ in each of Math and EBRW), USAT (50%+, for CS/AI/Engineering/Economics), NTS (50%+, for Engineering/Management/FinTech/Economics, not CS/AI), or ECAT 2024 (for the Engineering programmes specifically).

What marks is the ITU Admission Test out of?

ITU does not publish a total raw-marks figure. Eligibility and exemption thresholds are all stated as percentages (50% minimum, 40% for Economics), so this calculator treats your test result as a 0-100 score.

What is the minimum eligibility for ITU?

At least 50% in Matric/O-Level and 50% in Intermediate/A-Level, plus a minimum Admission Test score of 50% (40% for BS Economics with Data Science) or a qualifying exemption score. These are confirmed on ITU’s own programme eligibility pages.

What formula applies if my Intermediate result has not been announced yet?

ITU uses a different two-part formula for O-Level-only / A-Level-awaiting applicants to BS CS and BS AI: Academic Record 35% + Admission Test 65%, with no separate Matric weighting in that specific route.

Do Pre-Medical students need Mathematics for BS Computer Science at ITU?

Not for eligibility, but ITU’s own programme page states that Pre-Medical entrants without Mathematics must pass an extra 6 credit hours of foundation Mathematics courses in their first year, or their admission can be revoked.

What ITU Admission Test score do I need to reach a target merit?

For BS CS/AI, subtract your Matric and Inter points from your target and divide by 0.50. For example, with Matric 950/1100 and Inter 980/1100 you already have 44.14 points, so a target of 75% needs an Admission Test score of at least 62/100. Use the required-score tool on this page to do it for your own marks.

What merit do I need to get into ITU?

It depends on the programme and applicant pool that year. BS Computer Science and BS Artificial Intelligence are typically ITU’s most competitive programmes. Use the previous cycle’s official closing merit for your programme as a target, then use the required-score tool to see the score you need.

Is this the official ITU merit?

No. This is an independent estimator built from ITU’s own published policy pages. Your official merit position is published by ITU on its own admissions portal.

Why is my merit different from the one ITU published?

Common reasons are using the wrong programme group (BS CS/AI vs Engineering vs Management/FinTech vs Economics), the wrong route for your Intermediate status (HSSC result vs O-Level only), an assumed Matric/Inter split on a custom-weight programme, or rounding. Confirm the exact figures with ITU’s admissions office.
