IIUI Merit & Aggregate Calculator

Use this free IIUI (International Islamic University Islamabad) merit and aggregate calculator to calculate your admission merit with IIUI’s own criteria. Choose your programme group, enter your SSC and HSSC marks (plus your test score where one applies), and get your merit.

Quick answer

IIUI admits most BS programmes on previous qualification marks alone: SSC 40% + HSSC 60%, with no admission test. LL.B uses SSC 15% + HSSC 25% + LAT/test 60%. Engineering, Engineering Technology, CS, SE, IT and Bioinformatics require an IIUI admission test, and IIUI says their merit follows the accrediting bodies’ guidelines.

IIUI Merit Formula 2026 by Programme

IIUI’s admissions page sets out its criteria for merit calculation:

Programme groupSSCHSSCTest
BS programmes admitted on previous qualification marks (no test)40%60%—
LL.B, BA-LLB (Hons) Shariah & Law15%25%60% (LAT / test)
BS Engineering, B.E.Tech, BS CS / SE / IT, BioinformaticsPer accrediting-body guidelinesIIUI admission test required

Most BS programmes have no test. For Fall 2026, IIUI scheduled admission tests only for engineering, engineering technology, CS, SE, IT and Bioinformatics. Every other BS programme is admitted on previous qualification marks (PQM): 40% SSC and 60% HSSC.

Test-based programmes: IIUI’s handbook gives undergraduate merit as 40% academic qualification + 60% admission test, and the LL.B split (15% SSC + 25% HSSC + 60% test) follows the same pattern. For engineering and computing, IIUI says it follows PEC and HEC accreditation guidelines and has not published a separate split, so the calculator lets you adjust the weights.

If your HSSC Part-II result is awaited, IIUI calculates the HSSC part from your Part-I marks. Percentages are not rounded: 49.99% is treated as 49.99%, not 50%.

How to Calculate Your IIUI Aggregate: Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Convert your marks to percentages. Divide obtained marks by total marks and multiply by 100.
  2. Multiply by the weightage for your programme. For most BS programmes: SSC × 0.40 and HSSC × 0.60.
  3. Add the results. The total is your IIUI merit out of 100.

Worked example: BS programme without a test

A student scores 950/1100 in SSC and 980/1100 in HSSC.

ComponentMarksPercentageWeightagePoints
HSSC980 / 110089.09%60%53.45
SSC950 / 110086.36%40%34.55
Total merit——100%88.00%

Enter the same numbers in the calculator above and you will get 88.00%.

Worked example: LL.B

The same SSC and HSSC marks with 70/100 in the LAT: 86.36% × 0.15 + 89.09% × 0.25 + 70% × 0.60 = 12.95 + 22.27 + 42.00 = 77.23%.

IIUI Admission Test: Which Programmes Need It

ProgrammeTest (Fall 2026)
BS Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Civil Engineering; B.E.Tech (Computer, AI, Cyber Security, Mechanical, Civil)IIUI admission test, 13 August 2026
BS Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, BioinformaticsIIUI admission test, 10–12 August 2026
LL.BHEC Law Admission Test (LAT) pass required
All other BS programmesNo test: merit on SSC 40% + HSSC 60%

According to IIUI’s handbook, the admission test covers language skills (English or Arabic), subject aptitude and general analytical skills, on the pattern of TOEFL, GMAT and SAT. Calculators and mobile phones are not allowed.

Overseas applicants, except Afghan refugees, are exempt from the test and admitted on their qualifications. However, IIUI’s Faculty of Engineering & Technology never admits students on qualifications alone, following PEC policy.

IIUI Eligibility Criteria 2026

ProgrammeMinimum eligibility
BS Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Civil Engineering60% in HSSC (Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical, ICS with Maths/Physics/Computer, or relevant DAE) and 60% in SSC (Science)
B.E.Tech programmes50%
BS Computer Science, SE, IT50% in HSSC with Mathematics plus Physics, Statistics or Computer Science. Pre-Medical students take 6 credit hours of Mathematics deficiency courses
LL.B50% in HSSC plus a passed HEC LAT
Almost all other BS programmes50% in HSSC or equivalent

If your result is awaited, you can apply and be admitted provisionally, but you must submit the result within 15 days of the semester starting. The admission is cancelled if you don’t reach the required marks. IIUI has separate campuses and admission offices for male and female students in H-10, Islamabad.

IIUI Merit Impact: How Much Is Each Mark Worth?

ImprovementBS (no test)LL.B
+10 marks in HSSC (out of 1100)+0.55 points+0.23 points
+10 marks in SSC (out of 1100)+0.36 points+0.14 points
+1 mark in the LAT (out of 100)—+0.60 points

SSC carries 40% for BS programmes without a test, so your Matric result matters far more at IIUI than at most universities. For LL.B, the LAT carries most of the weight.

IIUI Closing Merit: What Merit Do You Need?

IIUI publishes separate merit lists for each programme, and for male and female applicants. There is no single cut-off: it depends on each programme’s seats and applicants that cycle.

Use the last merit list for your programme and gender as your benchmark.

How to Improve Your IIUI Merit

  • For BS programmes without a test, your board marks are everything. Both SSC and HSSC count heavily, so an improvement exam can move you up.
  • For LL.B, aim high in the LAT. It carries 60% of your merit.
  • For engineering and CS, prepare for IIUI’s admission test. It covers English, subject aptitude and analytical skills.
  • Apply to more than one programme. Each has its own merit list.
  • Don’t round your percentage. IIUI treats 49.99% as below 50%.

Common IIUI Merit Calculation Mistakes to Avoid

  • Adding a test to a BS programme that has none. Most IIUI BS programmes use SSC 40% + HSSC 60% only.
  • Using 10/40/50. IIUI does not publish that split for any programme.
  • Giving SSC only 10%. At IIUI, SSC counts 40% for BS programmes without a test.
  • Forgetting the LAT for LL.B. You must pass it, and it carries 60% of your merit.
  • Treating the estimate as final. Only IIUI’s merit lists are official.

Frequently asked questions

What is the IIUI merit formula?

For BS programmes admitted on previous qualification marks, which is most of them, it is SSC 40% + HSSC 60%. LL.B uses SSC 15% + HSSC 25% + LAT/test 60%. Engineering and computing programmes need an IIUI admission test, and merit follows accrediting-body guidelines.

Is there an entry test for IIUI BS admission?

Only for engineering, engineering technology, CS, SE, IT and Bioinformatics in Fall 2026. Every other BS programme has no test and uses SSC 40% + HSSC 60%.

How is the IIUI aggregate calculated?

For a BS programme without a test: SSC % × 0.40 + HSSC % × 0.60. For example, 950/1100 and 980/1100 give 88.00%.

What is the IIUI merit formula for LL.B?

SSC 15% + HSSC 25% + 60% test, with a pass in the HEC LAT required. For example, 950/1100, 980/1100 and a LAT score of 70/100 give 77.23%.

What is the minimum percentage for IIUI?

50% in HSSC for most BS programmes. Engineering needs 60% in HSSC and 60% in SSC (Science).

Can I apply to IIUI with Part-I marks?

Yes. If your result is awaited, IIUI calculates the HSSC part from your Part-I marks and admits you provisionally.

Does IIUI round percentages?

No. 49.99% is treated as 49.99%, not 50%, and 2.49 CGPA as 2.49, not 2.50.

Is this the official IIUI merit?

No. This is an independent estimator built from IIUI’s own admission criteria and handbook. IIUI publishes the official merit lists.

Equivalence and recognition

How this page was checked. The merit formulas come from the Criteria for Merit Calculation table on IIUI’s own admissions page. The 40% academic + 60% test rule, admission test pattern and overseas rules come from IIUI’s Student Handbook 2025-26. Which programmes have a test in Fall 2026, plus eligibility, come from IIUI’s Programs Offered Fall-2026 page. All were read in September 2026. The other calculator pages checked showed a 40/60 academic/test split, a generic 10/40/50, or no formula for most programmes. None showed the SSC 40% + HSSC 60% formula that IIUI uses for most BS programmes, so this page follows IIUI’s own table. This site is independent and is not affiliated with IIUI.
